Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four sisters, was born on August 8, 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de-Domme. Her parents who were dental surgeons and a teacher recognised and supported her interest in acting and theatre as early as she was a child. This superseded an initial desire to become a primatologist thanks to her love of monkeys. Early success and a rapid growth in popularity made her a promising young actor. After her graduation in 1998, she participated in a French talent-scouting TV programme Jeunes Premiers sponsored by Canal+ and won Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors before beginning the journey to become an actor. Tautou was educated at the Institut Catholique de Paris, and was a member of the church when she was an early girl. But she's since left the church. She claims that she's not necessarily Catholic. She pursued a modelling career as well as acting and is the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc and Chanel sometimes referred to as the Chanel Muse. She also has a serious photographic passion and has recently created an exhibit of her photographs at the Arles Festival in France under the title Superficial. She focuses her photography on stars, fame and public that scrutinised her since her rise to fame in Amelie. In addition, there are some photographs of her own self. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom and international fame with her debut role as the lead in the film Le Fabuleux Destin de l'Amelie Poulain. Amelie was a box office hit internationally and was a cult hit at numerous international awards ceremonies. It remains the highest grossing French language film in the US. The film's popularity led to Tautou's appearance in many films from British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's long-distance Sunday of fiancailles before moving to Hollywood with Ron Howard's direction of The Da Vinci Code, a Dan Brown bestseller The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
